PDP Card Game

e3i has supported the development of a PDP resource. Part of experiential learning techniques, the card game is based on the popular card game "Rummy", and has been trialled around the world, in different countries, cultures, organisations and educational institutions.
Each card contains a general statement of a personal trait, attribute, strength or weakness. Participants are asked to gather a “hand” which forms their personal profile. At the end of the game, participants can use the information as a basis of an action plan or a personal development plan. The information can also be used when forming task groups with different strengths and attributes.
At present the card game will be used by 1st year students. The card game can be changed so that it contains personal, academic and professional attributes in separate decks of cards. The decks can be mixed or used as a combination.

Venture Matrix Logo

The Venture Matrix started as a Special Interest Group of the e3i CETL. It has been funded by e3i from its inception, and has grown to be an important mechanism for the development of employability skills amongst participating students. The Venture Matrix is a work-based learning tool that provides Sheffield Hallam staff with a proven approach for delivering enterprise and employability skills within the curriculum for undergraduates.  The Venture Matrix can be embedded into an existing course or form part of the validation process when developing new modules.

As a University wide learning scheme, the Venture Matrix allows current students the opportunity to simulate the business world as an accredited part of their course.  Students can set up their virtual company and trade with each other in a risk free environment, helping them to develop essential knowledge and experience the holistic nature of working in their chosen professions.

The programme offers students realistic work related experience to enhance their study, and allows access to the diversity of learning and skills of other Venture Matrix companies.

The Venture Matrix website can be accessed here
